Be A Morning Person
Being a morning person may seem overrated when sleep is so nice, but I can assure you it’ll change your life! Waking up early without an alarm feels so rewarding and will help your entire day run smoothly. Having enough time for yourself before you start on your responsibilities is important. You are the most important person in your life and you should treat yourself! Before you know it, you’ll look forward to waking up early and seizing the day!
If you’re used to sleeping at a late hour, it’s not going to be easy to start sleeping earlier. You need to slowly adjust your schedule over time. A half hour earlier each night until you’re sleeping at the time you want is the easiest and most efficient way. Drinking tea before bed or keeping a journal will help you relax if you’re having trouble winding down. If you’re like me and love coffee, avoid drinking it at night for obvious reasons. Snacking after dinner isn’t really a great idea either, but sometimes we can’t help ourselves!
I’ve found that setting an alarm with a softer sound helps me wake up, because I’m not feeling attacked by a crazy loud ringtone. I’m more willing to wake up when I’m being quietly nudged by a pleasant lil tune, rather than being jolted awake by my phone. Something that progressively gets louder is nice if you do need an extra push. If you seriously have trouble obeying an alarm, you might wanna put your phone somewhere out of reach.
In my experience the hardest part of waking up is how cozy your bed feels in the morning. It’s practically begging you to just close your eyes and go back to sleep, but don’t let it convince you! You need to get out of bed and start your routine. I find that once I wash my face I’m pretty much awake and there’s no crawling back into bed for me. Just think, that small trek from your bed to the bathroom is all you need to snap yourself out of that sleepy daze.
Once I’m up, I feel incredibly productive! And I can accomplish anything. I get a lot of work done during these hours when I have a ton of energy, and it lasts throughout the whole day if I start my morning right. As you slowly convert to being a morning person, you won’t feel groggy or unmotivated when you wake up. You will learn to love mornings and all the benefits of being awake early!
Taking the time to do things for yourself in the morning before you need to leave for school or work will really change your whole mood throughout the rest of the day. Nobody likes to rush out of the house feeling unprepared, so waking up with enough time to get ready (and then some) is important. Save an extra 15 minutes to just relax! I set my alarm earlier than I really need to be out of bed, so I can have some time to myself before I get up and start my day. Going at a leisurely pace instead of feeling rushed will put you in a much better mood.
Something very important that I feel I need to stress is that during all this pleasant extra time, you need to eat breakfast!! It truly is the most important meal of the day, and will fuel you until lunch time. Having a balanced meal in the morning is really necessary for feeling energized and positive throughout the day. While you’re eating you can plan out your day and think about the things you need to get done.
Once you realize how being an early riser will affect multiple parts of your life, you’ll never want to go back. It’s just so much more refreshing to wake up with the sun and start your day with endless possibilities. Rise and shine people, the world is waiting for you!!
