Being Obsessed With Another Culture, My Love For Asian Things!!

Now recently I've gotten a few questions about how I'm totally obsessed with Korean culture and that I should do more things Algerian because I am Algerian.

                                                                        It's True.

Not that I should do more Algerian things, but I am obsessed with Korean culture. I find it incredibly interesting and the addictiveness of Kpop groups do not help!
This cross-cultural obsession is not even that weird. I mean all other countries are obsessed with America (even Korea ironically) and American shows, actors and TV but that's not weird because it has happend for years. It was not until more recently that Korea has become the "America" of the Asian continents. Prior to Korea I remember all my Asian friend being obsessed with everything in Japan.

I think wherever a country is able to dominate media, as in make really popular TV shows and music it tends to draw people into their culture, including me. I mean PSY already took over America with Gangnam Style!

I've Always Love Other Cultures :)

I've always been obsessed with other cultures, mainly because I grew up in a very multicultural environment. I grew up in Algeria and made friends with people from all over the world.
I found love for another cultures, Japan and China. I love their food, their culture, fashion.. etc

So Why Be Obsessed With Other Cultures?

It's not that I hate being Algerian although yes, sometimes I do have a love hate relationship with my race. That's just my personal preference and it is nothing to do with culture.
Just because you're born into a culture doesn't mean you have to become that culture, or act that way, or be like them. But at the end of the day I still respect my home country.

For everyone that has grown up in a country other that their own ethnic country, can understand your culture is more likely a result of where you grew up than what you look like or where your parents came from.

There's nothing wrong with that. It's a personal choice that you need to make for yourself.
There's also nothing wrong with being interested in another culture and learning about it and wanting to act the way. You are free to become whoever you like and enjoy things that you want to and not be restricted to only sticking to what you were born with.
After all you don't choose what ethnicity you were born into so if you didn't choose it why stick to it just for the sake?

If your parents were doctors and lawyers it does not mean you have yo be, you can choose what suits you the best and what you love to do. Same with what culture you want to be interested in.

It's also great to be open to other cultures and have an open mind. I guess that came easy for me being surrounded by so many different people. It's called not being racist :) which I feel is a great thing!!
No matter what you decide the most important thing is to respect other peoples choices in life. You don't have to like it, you may even think it's a little weird. But learn to understand it's not your life and not your choice to make and respect that.
I think that applies to almost everything - unless of course that choice directly harms other people in the process.

So yes, I love Korean things!! It's my new "Phase"!! I love their make up styles, their music, their food. I'm intrigued by the way they think and their culture, and until which point I switch interests I will continue making Korean themed videos, blog posts and such because I think it's amazing interesting and I love to learn about it :)

I hope you will enjoy them as well and I'm also open to doing other themes if you guys want to request it ;)
